Design
Both hair straighteners look incredibly similar, housed in a black design, the curved edges on each of them ensure you can curl your hair as well as straighten it with these tools. Both have ceramic plates to ensure they glide through your locks, whilst the Cloud Nine design also boasts a “special and mysterious ingredient” which gives your hair added shine and sparkle, each and every time you use your irons.
Both irons will automatically turn off after 30 minutes too, so there’s no panic when you’ve left the house.
Heat
The Cloud Nine Original Iron has a range of different temperatures, between high, medium and low, and the one-touch temperature control means it’s easier than ever to change the temperature setting. Cloud Nine tools are equipped with a MiCOM (MicroComputer) controlled heating system, meaning that they basically ‘think’ for themselves, adjusting temperature according to the thermal sensor’s calculations. MiCom control is combined with Ceramic Heat Element technology found in all Cloud Nine styling tools to ensure a completely even temperature across the entire super-smooth, mineral-infused, ceramic surface.
The ghd Gold V Classic styler is designed to operate at 175°C – 185°C, as ghd found that this is the optimal operating temperature for our advanced ceramic heater technology to create superior results whatever the hair type or style that you are looking to achieve.
Summary
We have to admit that both these straighteners are professional products that brilliantly do the job of styling our hair, the biggest difference to note is that the Cloud Nine Irons have different heat temperature settings, whilst the ghd Classic Styler doesn’t. If you’d prefer to style your hair at a lower setting then it might be better to invest in the Cloud Nine tool.
